I recently learned that Moleskine’s oh-so-legendary link to Chatwin and Hemingway is nothing but inauthenticity; the Moleskine of today is not a direct descendant of any notebook used by famous authors of yesteryear. My search for a notebook with a real legacy led me back to France, Chatwin’s original country of supply, and the boutique collections of French stationer Bloc Rhodia.
In roughly three weeks, the Twitter game Spymaster went from an idea in my head to the second-most trending topic on Twitter. Along the way, we’ve exposed a lot of weaknesses in Twitter’s platform. While Twitter has some flaws in their current user experience, I can’t fix them. What I can do is optimise for my own users.

The Designer ego has gotten out of control. Although we as designers like to think our work is capable of saving dying industry, our egos have deceived us. Good design is an amplifier of product and business decisions, for better or for worse, and it’s easily summarised in a little automotive analogy.
Silicon Valley left me with a bit of an identity crisis. It’s been two years since the heyday of hyalineskies; after finally issuing the Do Not Resuscitate order, I moved on. Socialuxe was born. In the end, I haven’t really changed all that much.
